The Know
What I'm reading, using, recommending.
A living list. No paid placements — if it's here, it's because I've actually tested it on myself or my clients.
Apps + tools
Trainerize
client platformWhere every program, check-in, and message lives once you're a client. The mobile app does the heavy lifting.
MyFitnessPal
Easy to use, big food database, and shareable with me so we can see patterns together. Free tier is enough for most people.
Apple Watch / Fitbit
Either works. The point is consistent sleep + heart-rate data so we can see when life is winning and adjust accordingly.
Withings
A smart scale that syncs weight + body-composition trends without me having to nag you for numbers. Daily weigh-ins stop feeling loaded when the data just flows.
Supplements
Whey + plant protein blend (Gainful)
Personalized blend. Use code BUILDINGFORWARD if you want to try it.
Creatine monohydrate
Cheap, well-studied, helps with strength + recovery + cognition. 5g/day. No loading phase needed.
Vitamin D3 + K2
Most of us don't get enough sun. Dose based on your bloodwork, not a generic recommendation.
Magnesium glycinate
Sleep + recovery + muscle relaxation. Take at night.
Books
Roar
by Stacy T. Sims, PhD
How women's physiology actually works — fueling, training, hormones. Re-read it every year.
Next Level
by Stacy T. Sims, PhD
Perimenopause + training. The book I wish every woman in her 30s+ read.
Atomic Habits
by James Clear
The habit-building framework that underpins how I structure check-ins. Tiny is sustainable.
Podcasts
Unf*ck Your Fitness
No-BS fitness, nutrition, and mindset talk for women. Cuts through the bro-coach noise and the diet-culture nonsense. The vibe is "smart friend who lifts," which is exactly the energy this work needs.
Huberman Lab
When you want the protocol-level deep dive. Take what's useful, skim the rest.
